Christmas comes, but the Darkness Descends: TLM Mass readings today are significant

Amici,

It struck me today as the Holy Offering how today's Mass Readings, for the Fourth Sunday of Advent, are so relevant to us today:

GRADUAL

Psalms 144: 18, 21

Prope est Dóminus ómnibus invocántibus eum: ómnibus qui ínvocant eum in veritáte. Laudem Dómini loquétur os meum: et benedícat omnis caro nomen sanctum ejus.

The Lord is nigh unto all them that callupon Him: to all that call upon Him in truth. My mouth shall speak the praise of the Lord: and let all flesh bless His Holy Name.

COLLECT

O Lord, we beseech Thee, stir up Thy power, and come, and with great might succor us: that by the help of Thy grace that which is hindered by our sins may be hastened by Thy merciful forgiveness. Who lives and reigns with God the Father in the unityof the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.

And as we wait for President Trump to do something, and all the myriad denizens of the "Deep State", the Epistle is amazingly relevant.

4:1 Let a man so account of us as of the ministers of Christ, and the dispensers of the mysteries of God.

2 Here now it is required among the dispensers, that a man be found faithful.

3 But to me it is a very small thing to be judged by you, or by man's day; but neither do I judge my own self.

4 For I am not conscious to myself of any thing, yet am I not hereby justified; but he that judgeth me, is the Lord.

5 Therefore judge not before the time; until the Lord come, who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall every man have praise from God.

Indeed, He will.
